Glossary of key terms.
Recommended books, organizations, and authors.
She is the Goddess, the Divine Feminine,
The Great Mother—
revered in rituals and prayers at dawn
and honoured in the close of twilight,
worshipped in ancient temples, and churches,
and invoked in the quiet chambers of the heart.
She is both imminent, woven into the fabric of our souls,
and eminent, shining forth in the world’s beauty and mystery.
Known as the Great Mother, she wears countless names
—her essence flowing through all cultures and time,
appearing as Saints, Bodhisattvas, as Sophia and Sofia,
the wisdom and spirit of Gaia herself.
She is the breath of creation,
the pulse of compassion,
the eternal feminine,
the Shakti,
the Love
that births, dances, and illuminates all things
with her Light.
The Divine Feminine manifests in many ways
As light and love, she offers blessings, wisdom, healing, abundance, and empowerment.
Key Qualities of the Divine Feminine Include:
unconditional love, understanding, compassion, healing
beauty, radiance, joy
warmth, gentleness, care
intuition creativity, flow
fertility, birth, nurturing
truth, justice, and sovereignty.
She seeks to bring balance to the Divine Masculine within all people and genders, fostering harmony and wholeness.
Her archetypal forms are often represented by the triple spiral:
The Maiden, symbolizing new beginnings and youthful energy
The Mother, embodying nurturing, creation, and abundance
The Wise Crone, holding deep wisdom and transformation.
In ancient Egypt, these aspects were personified by the goddesses Nephtys (the youthful sister), Isis (the magical heart of The Great Mother), and Nekhhbet-Mother-Mut (the Vulture Queen, wise alchemist and protector of Upper Egypt).
Across civilizations, the Goddess appears under different names and faces. The Greeks and Romans worshipped Isis alongside their own triple goddesses until Christianity suppressed her in the 5th CE. Popular Goddesses are Aphrodite, Venus, Demeter, Persephone, Hecate and many others.
In Hinduism, Kali and Durga embody the creative and transformative energies of Shakti.
Taoism honours the receptive power of Yin, while Buddhism venerates the compassion of Kwan Yin and Tara.
The Shekhinah in Judaism represents the Light of God dwelling within earth and particularly within the feminine.
Earth-based goddess figures in Mayan, Celtic, Indigenous, and Wicca, Druidic or pagan traditions, further illustrate her universal presence.
The Divine Feminine is a force that invites us to connect with our deepest selves and the world around us, encouraging balance, creativity, and compassion in all aspects of life.
Prayer of Awakening
by Padiusiri
Awake, Awake, Awake!
Awake in Peace, Lady of Peace
Rise thou in Peace
Rise thou in Beauty.
Goddess of Life
Beautiful in Heaven
Heaven is in Peace
Earth is in Peace.
O Goddess
Daughter of Nut
Daughter of Geb
Beloved of Osiris.
Goddess rich in names!
All Praise to You!
All Praise to You!
I adore You!
I adore You!
Lady Isis!
Lady of Peace!
Please feel free to use your personal Goddess or God name in this prayer.
Different versions were used for different Gods and Goddesses in different temples throughout Egypt. There were prayers to “Wake up” the Gods and Goddesses each morning, and Prayers for the Close of the Day for rest for the Gods and Goddess.
Meditation Script: Embracing the Divine Feminine
Close your eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths. Allow your body to relax, and let your mind settle.
As you breathe, imagine a soft, radiant light surrounding you—a gentle presence, warm and loving. This is the energy of the Goddess, the Divine Feminine, the Great Mother.
With each breath, feel her light and love filling your heart. She manifests in many forms, offering blessings, wisdom, healing, abundance, and empowerment. Allow yourself to receive these gifts, letting them flow into every part of your being.
Now, bring your awareness to the balance within you—the harmony of Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine. Sense how these energies complement and support each other, creating wholeness for all genders.
Visualize the triple spiral of the Goddess:
The Maiden, representing new beginnings and youthful energy.
The Mother, embodying nurturing, healing, creativity, and abundance.
The Wise Crone, holding deep wisdom and transformation.
See these forms as archetypes within you, guiding your growth and evolution.
Imagine yourself in ancient Egypt, where the Goddesses Nephtys, Isis, and Nekhhbet-Mother-Mut reign. Feel their presence—Nephtys with her gentle support, Isis with her magical motherly wisdom, and Nekhbet-Mother-Mut as the wise alchemist, transforming and protecting.
Recognize that these Goddesses, and their energies, exist in many cultures and traditions. They are universal, archetypal forces that you can engage with and grow through.
Take a moment to honour the Divine Feminine within yourself and in the world around you.
Feel gratitude for her blessings and her guidance.
When you are ready, gently bring your awareness back to the present moment. Take a deep breath, and open your eyes, carrying the wisdom and love of the Goddess with you.
Embracing the Divine Feminine and Masculine
We must open to and embrace the many manifestations of the Divine Feminine, while also recognising the equal importance of the Divine Masculine and “his” qualities:
Key Qualities of the Divine Masculine
Strength, purpose, action
Logic, reason, productivity
Leadership, protection, boundaries, and self-discipline
Harmony and Transformation Through Balance
These qualities are inherent within everyone, as harmony and balance between the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine are essential—their interplay enables transformation, unity, and growth.
For example, in Hindu mythology, Kali’s shakti activates Shiva, and in Egyptian mythology, Isis uses her magic to revive Osiris.
Across religions, stories of miraculous conceptions and divine interventions highlight the equal power of the Goddess in relationship with her God.
Repression and Renewal of the Divine Feminine
However, the influence of the Divine Feminine has frequently been limited, controlled, and repressed by patriarchal and political systems. The current Age of Aquarius presents an opportunity to integrate, balance, and harmonise the opposite qualities within individuals and society, thereby initiating a renewed era of spiritual awareness and expanded consciousness. This process involves addressing and overcoming negative, shadow aspects, as described by Jung.
Indigenous and Ancient Perspectives on the Divine
Indigenous cultures know that everything is Divine, alive and conscious. They acknowledge the Divine Feminine and Masculine as does Hinduism, Druidism ancient and modern, Wicca, and the ancient Egyptians.
The word Nature comes from the Greek who used the Egyptian hieroglyph written as ntr meaning nature, where everything was a form of consciousness, alive, and divine.
The Egyptians placed animal heads on their Gods and Goddesses to illustrate the anthropomorphic aspects of both animals and humans as equally from nature and equally divine.
Nature’s Divine Feminine, Shamanism, and Ecological Consciousness
The modern revival of Shamanism and increasing ecological awareness adopted by eco-psycho-spiritual groups (e.g. Jungian and Buddhist), has again elevated Nature—especially in her Divine Feminine form—to a central position in our lives.
Emphasising balance with Nature’s cycles highlights our Divine Feminine interconnectedness and balance with natural cycles: of ebbs and flow, fertility, growth and productivity, fallow and renewal as experienced by both Nature and women.
This inter-relationship reinforces the need for respect, responsible, loving stewardship as essential values for individuals, societies, and the environment to nurture and sustain life.
The Divine Feminine in Nature’s Cycles and Personal Transformation In my articles on Shamanism and Dreamwork I emphasise the cycles of Calling, Initiation, Death, and Rebirth.
These cycles in Nature mirror our own alchemical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual transformations, as experienced in the Divine Feminine and The Triple Spiral – New Life of the Maiden, Birth and Abundance of the Mother, and Wisdom and Rest with the Crone.
As Above, So Below, As Within, So Without: The Ancient Maxim
Nature also reminds us of the ancient maxim, “As Above, So Below, As Within, So Without” attributed to Hellenic writer Hermes Trimegistus (a combination of Greek god Hermes and Egyptian god Thoth) written on the ancient Emerald Tablet. Variants of this philosophy can be traced back through Arabic and early Greek, Syriac, and other writings reflecting a unified cosmology.
It has become the signature phrase of magical, alchemical, esoteric, and spiritual practices and revived in modern times to recognise the power of a unified Cosmos and cosmology that respects and reveres the harmony, balance, and interconnection of all energies spiritual and material, feminine and masculine, here on earth and in the cosmos.
This is where our work with The Divine Feminine, The Goddess, The Great Mother begins – revivifying her, re-integrating her, and honouring her in our lives personally, societally, and collectively.
My Personal Experiences with The Goddess, The Divine Feminine, The Great Mother
Commitment to the Divine Feminine
My dedication to the Divine Feminine is rooted in a desire to restore balance after centuries of marginalization and suppression of the Goddess and the Great Mother. This calling has resonated with many individuals—women and men alike—over the past century. Notably, figures such as Jung notably highlighting the need to address this imbalance to foster embodied physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual wholeness.
Personal and Academic Journey into The Divine Feminine
My journey toward the Divine Feminine has been shaped by diverse experiences across cultures and spiritual traditions.
First and foremost, as a violinist, teacher, and youth orchestra conductor I lived the first 50 years of my life immersed in beauty and devotion to the Arts and the Divine Feminine in service to the Goddesses: Hathor (Egyptian), Saraswati (Hinduism), Calliope and Euterpe (Greek muses), Minerva (Roman), Brigid and Cerridwen (Celtic).
Over the past 15 years, my divorce and illnesses have taken me deeper into personal relationship with The Goddess, The Divine Feminine, The Great Mother for guidance, healing, and re-empowerment.
I have integrated my new studies in shamanism, dreamwork, Jungian psychology, and comparative religion into a coherent path of devotion.
Key milestones include academic work on Wicca
Hinduism’s theory and practices of Bhakti-devotional practices of the Divine Feminine and the Goddess, and of Kali specifically
Ongoing study of Jung’s perspectives on the Divine Feminine
Participation in Goddess workshops
Studying The Priestess Path in The Fellowship of Isis with Dr. Normandi Ellis 2023-2026.
Mystical and Spiritual Experiences and Sacred Stories
My spiritual connection deepened through visionary experiences with Mother Mary during Ayahuasca ceremonies in Peru and subsequent encounters in sacred sites such as the Cathedral of Santiago, Chile, and churches in Egypt.
These experiences have been reinforced through shamanic journeys, dreams, meditation, rituals, and prayer fostering a lasting relationship with the Divine Feminine.
I have written these experiences into essays published by Sacred Stories in “Ascension” and “Lifetimes” and include my original essays under the tab “Read”.
Academic Pursuits and Expanded Understanding of The Goddess
Academic pursuits, such as studying Hinduism and the concept of Bhakti, further enriched my understanding of the Goddess as an imminent and transpersonal universal presence. It is numinous, mystical and Divine.
My engagement with Kali, both in study, personal experience in dreams, visions, and with clients has been particularly transformative, influencing my spiritual practice and professional work.
This work then led into my Egyptian studies and working with the Egyptian Pantheon and Isis, Ma’at, Sekhmet, and Hathor and many other Goddesses and Gods personally, and with clients.
Fieldwork and Advanced Studies
Counselling Practice in India and Nepal in 2016 introduced me personally to a wide range of Hindu and Buddhist deities as well as in my academic studies.
Studies with teachers Nicki Scully and Dr. Normandi Ellis deepened my understanding of the Egyptian pantheon from 2019 onwards.
Participation in retreats and advanced training in Egyptian Alchemical Healing further expanded my practice. Specific dreams, visions, and synchronicities often guided my connections, relationships, decisions, and spiritual direction with the Goddess, the Divine Feminine, and The Great Mother.

Recent Developments and Integration
I returned to my Egyptian studies following a period immersed in Celtic shamanism. During my meditative practice Anubis, the Egyptian God repeatedly appeared before me.
Anubis is the shamanic priest, The Opener of The Way between worlds, and between life and death.
He was guiding me to a renewed connection with my Egyptian teacher Dr. Normandi Ellis, which culminated in a pilgrimage to Egypt a few months later in 2023. I returned in February 2025 with Normandi and Amy Auset Rohn who teaches Egyptian Spirituality and runs Priestess Programs through her school “The Goddess Inside” and I will return in March 2026 with Normandi to be ordained.
Ultimately, Anubis guided me towards a deeper integration of the wisdom gained from both Egyptian and nature-based spiritual paths and redirected my path. The Light of Consciousness is so well written and available through the temples, hieroglyphic writings, and Egypt herself that its living energies continue to inspire and ignite healing, wisdom, and empowerment to me and many others who have discovered these hidden mysteries.
These experiences have reinforced the importance of integrating the wisdom of both the Divine Feminine and Masculine and have shaped my ongoing commitment to spiritual balance and transformation.
Reflections on Balance and Transformation
The restoration of the Divine Feminine is not only a personal calling but also a collective necessity.
Integrating the qualities of the Divine Feminine—such as compassion, intuition, creativity, and nurturing—with those of the Divine Masculine—strength, purpose, and leadership—enables transformation and unity. This balance is essential for fostering harmony within individuals and society, and for addressing the challenges of our time.
Conclusion
My ongoing commitment to the Divine Feminine is informed by a diverse array of academic, spiritual, and personal experiences. Through study, practice, and devotion, I seek to honour and integrate the wisdom of the Goddess, contributing to a renewed era of spiritual awareness and expanded consciousness. This journey continues to evolve, guided by the archetypal energies of the Divine Feminine and Masculine, and by a deep reverence for the sacredness of all life.
Training in The Priestess Path in The Fellowship of Isis

I began my training in the Priestess Path with Dr. Normandi Ellis in August 2023. Dr. Ellis is a High Priestess in the lineage of The Fellowship of Isis, and the program itself spans 2–3 years. Normandi Ellis brings a wealth of experience and expertise:

The Fellowship of Isis, Ireland

Foundation and Purpose
The Fellowship of Isis was established in 1976 at their home in Huntingdon Castle Ireland by Lady Olivia Robertson, her brother Lord Lawrence Durdin-Robertson who had been a minister in the Church of Ireland, and his wife Pamela. Both Lawrence and Olivia had revelations and visions of the feminine aspect of God and modelled their Fellowship on the Goddess and the rejuvenation of the Divine Feminine, incorporating shamanic journeying, Jungian psychology, creative arts, drama, ceremonial rites, initiations, and ceremonies.
The organization aims to increase awareness of Divine Feminine energy, with Isis as its central archetype, especially for the dawning of the Aquarian Age.
Lady Olivia presented The Goddess Movement to the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1993 where it was acknowledged as a “world faith” on equal standing with other world faiths. It is a multi-faith spiritual organization with the mission:
“To help the Goddess actively in the manifestation
Of Her divine plan.”
Personal Pilgrimage
In 2024, I visited Huntingdon Castle in Clonegal, Ireland, spending time in the temple and meditation rooms (photo above) preserved as they were at Lady Olivia’s passing in 2013. Today, the Fellowship has grown to 20,000–30,000 members worldwide.
Reflections on Balance and Transformation
These experiences have reinforced the importance of integrating the wisdom of both the Divine Feminine and Masculine, shaping my ongoing commitment to spiritual balance and transformation. The interplay of these energies is essential for personal and collective growth, as reflected in mythologies and spiritual practices across cultures.
Introduction to Ma’at and Her Laws
I include my writings below for Ma’at, the Goddess of Cosmic Truth, Harmony, Justice, Balance, Compassion, Reciprocity, and Order. Ma’at is your arbiter in the Underworld after death when your heart is weighed on scales against Ma'at's feather by Anubis to see if it is “as light as feather” proving that you have done no wrong.
The 42 Laws of Ma’at
Her 42 Laws were Negative Confessions that you were to live by not doing and by pronouncing at death that you had not committed these acts or sins.
Positive Confessions and Cosmic Laws
We have been encouraged to write our 42 Laws of Ma’at as Positive Confessions – as how we wish to live, honouring the positive qualities and moral laws in our lives. It is also important to see these as Cosmic Laws.
Further Resources
You can read the 42 Laws of Ma’at as written for the Isis Oasis Sanctuary, Geyersville, CA on their website.
Balancing Opposing Qualities
I have included a list of opposing qualities that I need to bring into balance as part of my work with the Goddess Ma’at, and of The Divine Feminine.
Personal Reflection and Practice
You might like to think of which polarities you struggle to balance and write your own list as well as your own 42 Laws of Ma’at.
